Talking About... World Autism Awareness Day

Here at Kidz Kave, we love bright and colourful and we love different! So, today we are joining people around the globe to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day, during World Autism Awareness Week, which this year runs from March 29th - April 4th.

Observed for the first time by the UN in 2008 and falling every year on April 2nd, this special day aims to recognise and celebrate all those with autism and to raise public awareness of this developmental disorder. One in sixty-eight children and people are affected by autism, where they face difficulties with communication, learning and interacting in social situations. Four out of five people diagnosed with autism are male.

Autism can affect anyone of any race, nationality and social class and whilst there is still no firm answer as to how it develops, it is definitely being recognised, diagnosed and understood in more depth as time has gone by.

As mentioned in the About Us section of our website, the ethos here at Kidz Kave is that being different is not something to be shy away from and knowing and accepting that we are all beautiful and special in our own way. Confidence comes with life experiences and not being afraid to be different - whether that means simply putting on a bright and funky pair of socks to stand out in a crowd, through to embracing who you are as a person - quirks and all!
